What Is Dogecoin?

Possibly one of the most recognizable cryptocurrencies, the Dogecoin symbol is of a Shiba Inu dog. Created as a joke by its founder Jackson Palmer in 2013, Dogecoin is a cryptocurrency based on another cryptocurrency, Litecoin. It was created to be a friendlier, more accessible approach to the very daunting world of digital currencies. The coin has seen no major update since 2015, although it has benefited from updates made to Litecoin.

Over the years Doge has stolen the limelight numerous times due to its extremely strong and ever-growing community. Countless memes have been posted featuring Dogecoin, many of which have been posted by celebrities. Most notably by Elon Musk.

Even though Dogecoin has very few real-world applications, the powerful meme culture behind the coin has driven the price wildly up and down.

What Is A Dogecoin Faucet?

A Dogefaucet, like the one found on this page, is a simple app that gives the user a small amount of Doge or dogetoshi (one-hundredth of a million Doge). Of course, faucets cant simply give away crypto at the press of a button. Most will require the user to prove they are human by completing a captcha. Most dogecoin faucets will vary the amount dispensed, based on the current value of the coin.

If you are interested in cryptocurrencies but do not want to part with any of your hard-earned cash, faucets are breast way to obtain your chosen coin - risk-free. Although the first thing you will need is somewhere to keep your coins. Personally, I really like the exodus wallet. It is very easy to use and has a user-friendly user interface.
